I thought about how much had been lost through separation, displacement, and silence. But I also began to see something else: despite everything, so much had survived. The culture. The spirit. The traditions. The memory.

That experience planted the seed for Salone Hidden Gems.

I created Salone Hidden Gems to help tell the other side of the story — the hidden gems that are often overlooked. The beauty beyond the headlines. The humanity beyond the stereotypes. The deep cultural wisdom, creativity, history, love, and connection that still live within Sierra Leone and its people.

What started as tourism became something much deeper. It became a bridge.

Today, every experience we create is designed to help people connect not only to Sierra Leone, but also to themselves, their history, and the parts of the story that were never fully told.

Because sometimes the greatest journeys are not about discovering somewhere new.

Sometimes they are about remembering what was always there.
